Fresh from the Farm! New Collection

Applique Swirly Farm Animals with Mylar is a new collection with 27 designs for the 5 x 7 hoop. The designs on this multi-format disc use applique on the animals.  I use Minkee for dimension, but regular fabric will work as well. I would not use fleece on digitized machine embroidery because the loft is too high for your embroidery foot. Each main design has an element of Mylar Embroidery® in it.  I have broken out the designs to be used in many ways.  Look at the collection of designs and you will see what I mean.  See all the designs here at purelygates.com. Here is my sample:

Mylar Fancy Flamingos

Brand new collection from Purely Gates Embroidery called Mylar Fancy Flamingos ready for the heat of summer and all those quick, cute projects. These flamingos are a little more sophisticated and elegant, but still fun.  This collection includes ten 5x 7 designs with the shimmer of Mylar Embroidery®. Great for Beach Towels, tote bags, pool cover-ups, Tshirts, or a gift for your Flamingo-loving friends. Check out all the summer time designs like Curly Fun in the Sun with Mylar, Mylar Flamingos (the first set), Mylar Flip Flops, Mylar SeaLife, Mylar Tropical Fish, Mylar Koi, Mylar Geckos, and now Mylar Fancy Flamingos at  www.purelygates.com.

Look for another new collection out next week!

Mylar Koi using Mylar Embroidery® makes a Splash!

MYLAR KOI using Mylar Embroidery® is the newest collection this summer.  These designs shimmer and shine and will look good in any project.  Go to http://purelygates.com/PurelyGates/Mylar_Koi_Sample.html to see the sample I created using these designs.  This collection also provides the designs in an outline running stitch and can be used as quilting or Redwork.  I hope you enjoy them!

New Collection Mylar Red, White, and Blue

Just in time to get a project done for the summer and July 4th or for any time your are feeling patriotic! This new collection features 24 heart and star designs for the 4 x 4 hoop in formats for all machines. These would look great paired in 3’s on a bag or Tshirt, a tablerunner, placemats, or a quilt, like my sample above.  The quilt pattern I made is called Ribbons and Stars from the book 24-Hour Quilts by Rita Weiss, published by Sterling Publishing Company.  I’ve had the book for a good while so I do not know if it is still available. When you finish a project using these designs, upload it to my Facebook page and show off your work.  I love to see what everyone is making.

What’s Red, White and New!

Here’s a sneak peek into the upcoming new collection.  It will be out  next week. This will give you plenty of time to stitch items for the summer and the July 4th holiday.  Show your patriotic spirit.  These 24 designs will be available for the 4 x 4 hoop on a multi-format CD. Have a safe and relaxing Memorial weekend.

Mylar Swirly Sewing Stabilizer Organizer

Just finished a project using my Mylar Swirly Sewing Design collection. Here is a storage solution for your stabilizer rolls that is not only cute, but it gets those rolls off the floor or or table tops.   Here is a photo of the finished project.  Send me photos of your projects that utilize Purely Gates Embroidery designs.  I hope my designs and projects inspire you to create.

Thread color selection

When it comes to choosing thread colors for a design, at times it can seem like a monumental decision.  Why do we spend so much time picking threads? We feel the need to select the exact thread colors that we saw the original stitched in.  This is usually because color choice can be one of the reasons we fall in love with a design in the first place. “We want that design in those colors on that fabric!”

When I choose thread colors for a new collection, it may be colors that match a fabric I chose to display the designs on.  I may choose thread colors just based on what colors a particular design most commonly comes in and then I choose a shade I like.  If it is a fantasy type design, I just try to pick color combinations that go well together.  I have my favorites when it comes to skin tones and shading and I really love bright greens. If I pick thread colors and stitch the designs out, then I select fabrics to make the sample from, the fabric selection becomes much harder for me.

We love embroidery because it is a creative outlet for us. Let picking the thread colors be your part of the designs originality.  Choose colors you like.  Treat the colors on the color chart as a suggestion or even just to show you what portion of the design that particular color is going to stitch. If a design calls for 3 greens: a light, a medium, and a dark, choose 3 in your stash of threads that you like. Experiment with color. Make the design your own.  I really enjoy seeing what you have created with my designs and to see the color you choose.  Send me your project photos to either my email ( patricia@purelygates.com ) or post them yourself on my Facebook page for Purely Gates Embroidery.

What’s Next? Sneak Peek

I’ve been working diligently to get my next collection, or should I say next 2 collections done.  They are “like- themed” designs. All I have left to do is create a quilt sample for each and quilt them. My hope is to have them ready to release by Tuesday of next week. See a sneak peek of the new collections. One is for Boys and One is for Girls.

If you want to know when a new collection is released, go to my website  and sign up to receive an e-mail and we will add you to our list.  If you have a local store and want them to carry my designs then send them to my website http://www.purelygates.com.  Thank you for your time.  Now I have to get back to work to meet my Tuesday deadline.

New Fall Embroidery Collections

I hope you enjoy the new look to my blog.  I really found the other theme hard to read.  I think this new one looks more creative, anyway.  I have released a few more collections since I last blogged: Mylar Americana, Applique Naptime Monkeys, Mylar Luminous Garden, Fun in the Sun with Mylar, and my newest Mylar Fall Leaves.  If you’d like to be informed as to when new collections are released, sign up for my e-mail notification list on my home page.

I’ve been trying to alternate my collections between cutesy, baby themes and elegant, decorative themes.  My Mylar Fall leaves collection would look great on tablerunners, placemats, wall banners, pillows, purses, jackets, jeans, or a quilt. These designs would also look great as tone on tone designs, or 2 color. Think outside the box and choose your own colors to match fabrics or existing decor.  Utilize the color change chart only to make informed decisions as to what color of thread to use for each color change.  My color charts show you the portion of the design the color is going to stitch. E-mail me photos of you projects that include my designs and I will post them on the Customer Gallery pages of my website.

By the way, if you are having trouble finding Mylar or the correct Mylar sheets to use with my designs, just contact one of the retailers listed on my Orders page to order some.  They will be happy to help you.

I am currently working on a cute Halloween collection that I hope to have released in the next couple of weeks.  You will get 2 stitch files for each design, one digitized for Mylar and one digitized for use with applique (I like to use the soft Minkee fabric for my applique fabric). These designs will look adorable on Tshirts, Tote bags, Door Banners, and even a baby bib or quilt.

I hope I can make your embroidery an enjoyable past time. Thank you,

Patricia
